The Details
His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales requests the pleasure of your company to the Marriage of Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales with Ms. Rachel Meghan Markle at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle on Saturday 19th of May 2018 at 12 noon followed by a reception at Windsor Castle.
The Venue
Prince Harry and Meghan will wed at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle at 12 noon – “a special place” for the happy couple according to royal insiders and it is where Harry was christened. 600 guests will fill the chapel while 2,600 members of the public will be inside the Windsor grounds to see the carriage procession.
The Dress
Meghan’s wedding dress is a well kept secret. The only one who will officially see the dress before the wedding is the Queen. Many designers names are suspected of making the dress including Ralph & Russo (they did her stunning dress for her engagements pictures), Roland Mouret, Burberry (her mother Doria was spotted leaving LA with a Burberry dress bag in tow), Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Erdem.
The Wedding Party
Prince William will be best man. Meghan’s attendants include 4 page boys and 6 bridesmaids, with the ones to watch being Prince George and Princess Charlotte as they are sure to steal the show. Duchess Kate does not have a formal role in the wedding, but it is thought she will wear Alexander McQueen as she did on her wedding day.
The Ceremony
The wedding will be officiated by the Dean of Windsor, the Rt. Rev. David Connor, Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and the sermon will be given by the Most Reverend Michael Bruce Curry, the presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United States. Lady Jane Fellowes, Diana’s older sister and Harry’s aunt, will give a reading. The Choir of St. George’s Chapel will be on hand during the service as will state trumpeters, an orchestra from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, Karen Gibson and the Kingdom Choir, and cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason.
The Flowers
A London florist, Phillipa Craddock, is decorating the chapel. Her team will be using white garden roses, peonies (Meghan’s favorite), foxgloves we well as branches of beech, birch, and hornbeam. As mentioned here on Wednesday, a sprig of myrtle will be in Meghan’s bridal bouquet.
The Cake
California-raised Claire Ptak owns a London-based bakery called Violet Cakes and she has been tapped by Meghan to bake the nontraditional royal wedding cake. This cake will be lemon elderflower with buttercream frosting and fresh flowers.
The Photographer
Alex Lubomirski will be taking the official photographs of the royal wedding and of the royal family at Windsor Castle after the ceremony. Alex took the beautiful engagement pictures last Fall.
The Carriage
The newlyweds will process through the Windsor Castle grounds in the Ascot Landeau carriage pulled by Windsor Grey horses. See the 25 minute procession route below.
The Receptions
Following the ceremony, the 600 guests will head to St. George’s Hall for a wedding buffet breakfast.
An evening reception hosted by Prince Charles will take place at Frogmore House on the Windsor grounds for 200 close friends and family. It is expected Meghan will wear a second wedding dress and the rumor mill is in overdrive with Elton John, Ed Sheeran, and the Spice Girls all mentioned as potential evening entertainment.
