Where…is….the…sun?! I really can’t tell you the last time we saw it here in Dallas. It has been a dreary, gloomy, rainy, icy, snowy mess here over the past few weeks. Luckily, I have Florida to look forward to next week. Until then, I will just have to settle for pictures of bright blue skies and homes sunning in tropical sunny places. One home that appears to be the perfect paradise is this Lyford Cay retreat by Andrew Raquet (who sadly passed away last year).
Raquet took this home, formerly owned by Laura Ashley, and created a well appointed interior that let the Georgian style architecture bask in it’s glow. The home could easily be on the mainland USA, but there are hints of tropical colors, textures, and design that make it relevant to the island life. The home has a formal register, yet an enviable ease. It couldn’t look more ideal on a “wintry mix” day like today!

A more formal black and white entry is made slightly more relaxed with wicker baskets full of crisp white towels.
A gallery wall in a room full of whites and colorful striped curtains.
How can you not appreciate this. Raquet magically mixes classic dining furniture and more casually chic elements and colors. What an incredible mural by Stark!
Mirrored trellis walls compliment the light blue and green hues. Those garden stools are a fun element as well.
A country club-like master bathroom. A wonderful mix of pattern and fabric.
A luscious and lovely library area. The perfect seating arrangement for a large group gathering.
Exquisite exteriors and garden grounds. An ideal place for entertaining.
A master bedroom that is warm, comfortable, and relaxed, without losing it’s sense of purpose.
Can the sun come out yet? Maybe I’ll fly here to get it…wishful thinking!
