I recently hosted a baby shower for one of my oldest friends in Sarasota, Florida. Set in the large backyard full of beautiful oak trees at her mother’s home, it was a warm fall day full of celebration. We had a tent in the backyard with a long table and white chivari chairs. A simple backdrop made beautiful by hanging a large arrangement of southern smilax from the top of the tent (Tigerlily Florist).
The tablecloths and the napkins were gorgeous designs by India Amory. The chargers were on sale at Target. The china was a mix of TJ Maxx and plates owned by the grandmother-to-be. Her beautiful sets of inherited silver also added a nice touch. It was luxurious without being overly fussy. The favors were my favorite: microchip cookies from JK Chocolate in Dallas. They even made custom stickers right on the spot.
The place cards were from my close friend Margaret of Moore Ink. Over 15 years ago, I saw a magazine article about a baby shower where they put the name meaning of each guest on the place cards. I thought that would be totally fitting since the mama-to-be didn’t want games (who can blame her). It was the perfect conversation starter. The vases were purchased on Wayfair
The food was also incredible, that is because my sweet friend’s mom is the BEST cook. She literally made a spread worthy of Gourmet Magazine. It was not only beautiful to look at, it was lovely to eat.
While this shower was a labor of love, it is not even close to the labor of childbirth :). Cheers to the sweet new baby boy! Hope this can inspire something special for your next event.
I and the mom-to-be, Anne Marie.
