While staying at the Mayflower Inn & Spa, my friend and I visited some wonderful home shops in New Preston and went off for a lovely lunch. We could have stayed at the Inn the entire time, but I thoroughly enjoyed getting to see more of Litchfield County.
Privet House is one I have followed on instagram for years. Needless to say, I will have a box of treasures when I get back to Dallas. There are truly some fabulous finds, which is no surprise with all the beautiful country homes in the area. I listed the places I went to on this visit, but if you have anymore Litchfield County favorites, please leave a comment below!
SHOP:
Privet House
I was so excited to finally see Privet House in person. They have the most gorgeous housewares and beautiful baskets. I found the baskets to be reasonably priced and shipped quite a few to Dallas, and made it super easy. They were really engaging and helpful in the store. I am not going to hesitate to call or email when I see something I like online.
Privet Lives featuring Lamebertson Truex
Lamberstson Truex is known for their meticulously made leather goods, including handbags, card cases, and file folders. I loved that you could get your monogram right on the spot. They also had lovely wicker bags with leather detailing and great tote bags as well.
Pergola Home
Pergola Home was definitely a treat. It had the most spectacular outdoor area overlooking a waterfall. Each room was full of wonderful garden pots, myrtle topiaries and lovely gifts.
J. Seitz & Co.
This store had a little bit of everything, from clothing to sheets to candles. There was something to look at around every corner.
Lunch
Arethusa al Tavolo
This was a very memorable meal. It brought “farm to table” in a very new light. They make all the dairy on their farm. The charcuterie board was the best I can remember. Save room for dessert though. They have a homemade ice cream shop next door that had a long line for a very good reason.
HOMES
The homes in Litchfield Country were idyllic. Pretty white clapboard and lush green lawns were abundant. Just wait until I show you two very different, but spectacular listings tomorrow. It is no wonder so many people retreat to Litchfield County to get away from it all.
